Editor's Note

This, the second edition of the Refrigeration Buyers’ Guide, represents a ramp-up in CPI Industry’s efforts at being more inclusive in its coverage of the refrigeration industry. In 2009, we firmly stepped into the refrigeration sphere with a special session during The Climate Control Conference at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). The session was about the food industry, though, with presentations on cold storage construction and the like.

What followed was the launch of the Food Chain conference in 2011 in Dubai, and since then, at the subsequent editions, in Dubai, Dammam and Doha, the focus firmly has been on food safety and quality assurance (FSQA).

In the last quarter of 2013, we put together plans to open up the coverage of refrigeration by laying the groundwork for other areas that we shall be pursuing in 2014. The first initiative at broadening the scope would be the Process Cooling supplement, which will appear every quarter, with a focus on oil & gas, petrochemicals, construction, healthcare, pharma and, of course, FSQA. The second initiative, planned for much later in the year, will be the first ever dedicated refrigeration exhibition for the region. Called REFEX, it once again will focus on the above sectors, and more.

This guide is a precursor, if you like, for it includes much, much beyond FSQA-related refrigeration, be it in the list of product categories or the traditional offering of editorial articles. We had introduced several new categories, and were pleasantly surprised to be able to attract entries; it is, then, little surprise that the second edition is bulkier and, thus, a more comprehensive compendium.

An additional feature of this edition is the launch of the online edition of the guide. So while the print edition is a traditional handy resource, the online edition will enable you to speed up your search of companies that offer the refrigeration technologies you seek. In addition, it allows us to regularly update the information, so you are always as close as possible to the latest details.

It’s been exciting to put this second edition together. As always, do send us your feedback, and please don’t spare the criticism, if any. We are always keen to improve and give you a better experience.
